Spyres - See Through You

Formed in 2019, Glasgow based rock band Spyres released their fourth single ‘See Through You’ earlier this year. Influenced by the likes of Wolf Alice, Courtney Barnett and The Cure, the 4-piece are led by vocalist Keira McGuire.

McGuire created the band along with guitarist Emily Downie, and the two later recruited bass player Jude Curran and Alex White on the drums.

Speaking to Distorted Sound Magazine about being women in the industry, Emily said “We really hope for equality within the industry sooner rather than later even though there are a lot of powerful females in music we look up to. Personally, we see ourselves as musicians first and foremost but we can see where this pressure may come from as women are still underrepresented within the industry.”

Despite being together for such a short amount of time, Spyres have racked up over one million streams on Spotify alone and have supported some amazing artists such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Nothing But Thieves, The Snuts and Lauren Hibberd.

With sell-out shows at King Tut’s, Stereo and the Mash House, Spyres are set to become a big name within the Scottish music scene!
